When do you get your Life in the UK test results?

When do you get your Life in the UK test results?
You find out on the day. After you finish, you are told whether you passed or failed. An email with your unique reference number follows within 10 minutes.
There is no wait for a letter.
What do you hear on the day?
The test has 24 multiple choice questions, and the pass mark is 75 percent, which is 18 questions. When you finish, staff tell you the result. You can also see it in your Life in the UK account, on the results tab.
If you pass, your next job is to keep the paperwork safe.
What is in the email?
The email gives your unique reference number, called the URN. It comes whether you pass or fail. Each test you take has its own URN.
The URN also shows next to your result in your Life in the UK account. So if the email goes missing, you can sign in and find it. Check your junk folder first.
What do you do with the URN?
You write the URN on your citizenship or settlement application. The Home Office uses it to check your result and your photo.
Read more about this number in what the unique reference number is.
What if you pass?
Well done. Keep the email, and do not share the URN with people you do not know. Then look at what to do after you pass. The test is one part of a larger application. Other parts, such as your English level, are separate.
What if you fail?
You can take the test again. There is no limit on attempts, and you pay £50 each time. You also get a URN for a failed test, but the application needs the URN of the test you passed.
Write down which topics felt hard while you still remember them, and plan your study around those. A calm plan works better than booking the next slot in a hurry.
What about tests taken long ago?
Tests taken before 17 December 2019 gave a letter with a "test reference ID" instead. If you lost that letter, you send a letter with your application that explains the loss.
How can you prepare so the result is no surprise?
Take full mock tests with the clock running. Try our free practice test first, then repeat the topics that felt shaky.
Do not forget the short chapters. The test is based on all parts of the handbook, and the values and principles chapter is short enough to read twice. One memory hook is to learn the chapter's two lists as a pair: what you should do, such as obey the law and treat others fairly, and what the UK gives you in return, such as a fair trial and freedom of speech.
