Citizenship ceremonies in Birmingham
This page is for people becoming British citizens in Birmingham. The council invites you to a group ceremony, and you can ask for a private one later. A private ceremony costs £277.
How you book
You do not need to ask for a group ceremony. The council sends you an invitation by email or post after your Home Office letter. You can only arrange a private ceremony once you have that group invitation.

- Birmingham Register Office (private ceremonies)
What to bring
- Your original Home Office invitation letter (photocopies are not accepted)

The Register Office has no public counter. Your certificate can take several weeks to come from the Home Office.

What happens at the ceremony
You make the oath or the affirmation of allegiance to the King, then the pledge to the United Kingdom. At the end you receive your certificate of British citizenship and a welcome pack. You become a British citizen at the ceremony, not before.
