Citizenship ceremonies in Bristol

This page is for people becoming British citizens in Bristol. You phone the council after your Home Office letter. Your ceremony should happen within 3 months of that letter.

How you book

After your Home Office letter, phone the council. They agree a date and time with you.

How often they run

Group ceremonies run on a Wednesday every 2 weeks.

Where ceremonies take place

  • The Bristol Register Office, Old Council House, Corn Street

Private ceremonies and prices

You can have a private ceremony at short notice, on a weekday or a Saturday.

Private ceremony on a Saturday, short notice£160

The group ceremony fee is part of your citizenship application fee. Councils change their prices, so check the council page before you book.

The Register Office has step-free entry, and adapted toilets are on the same level.

What happens at the ceremony

You make the oath or the affirmation of allegiance to the King, then the pledge to the United Kingdom. At the end you receive your certificate of British citizenship and a welcome pack. You become a British citizen at the ceremony, not before.
