This page is for people becoming British citizens in York. Group ceremonies run every month at the Mansion House. You email the council after your Home Office invitation.
How you book
After the Home Office invitation email, email the council with your name and phone number. The team then gets in touch to arrange your ceremony. Use the same address to ask for a private ceremony.

What happens at the ceremony
You make the oath or the affirmation of allegiance to the King, then the pledge to the United Kingdom. At the end you receive your certificate of British citizenship and a welcome pack. You become a British citizen at the ceremony, not before.
